FOREVER GREEN ATHLETIC FIELDS

INSTALLS SYNTHETIC GRASS FIELD

FOR RENOWNED CONNECTICUT SCHOOL

October, 2006, Forever Green Athletic Fields has just completed installation of an all-purpose synthetic grass stadium field at the renowned Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT in time for the opening of the school year. According to “Construction Equipment Guide,” Forever Green Athletic Fields (FGAF) is “one of the most sought after names in artificial turf surfaces.

The first games on the new synthetic grass field were played in September. “The field is an outstanding product,” comments Bob Howe, the Athletic Director of Loomis Chaffee and the school’s designated overseer of the project. “We were looking for a company big enough to meet our needs but small enough to make us an important client. This is what we found in Forever Green Athletic Fields.”

The field at The Loomis Chaffee School is 110 thousand square feet and consists of synthetic grass with rubber infill and an integrated drainage system to eliminate puddles and splashing. The new field will be used for soccer, football and girls’ and boys’ lacrosse. Teams from other area schools will play there as well.

“The field has enhanced our sports program greatly,” said Bob Howe. “Having the ability to play even when wet means significantly more playing time in the northeast weather conditions. Over Labor Day weekend, we had a pre-season practice and it rained the whole weekend. We didn’t miss a practice, stayed outside comfortably, there was no mud tracked inside and we had a constant surface.”

Keith Day, president of Forever Green Athletic Fields, points out that “a field like the one at Loomis Chaffee can turn a sports program around. It means having the ability to play in all weather without worrying about overusing the grass. With our particular synthetic grass and rubber infill, it means safety, durability and performance.” Bob Howe agrees: “More kids are going out for football this year and I attribute some of this to the new field that is a real draw to some kids who were on the fence.”

Keith Day personally supervised the design and installation of the synthetic grass and drainage system for Loomis Chaffee School. What sets Forever Green Athletic Fields apart from other turf companies is personalized service. According to Bob Howe, “One reason we chose Forever Green Athletic Fields is that we knew what we were getting up front. They brought in all the various foremen to meet us who were going to work on the project. No other company did.”

About Synthetic Turf: Synthetic Turf is the general name for artificial grass of any type. Developed in the late 50s and early 60s, the early installations were a thin carpet over a hard cement and/or sand surface. The ability of educational institutions to use the fields repeatedly in all weather conditions caused the industry to grow and develop. Today, the older turf products are no longer available having been replaced by thicker, softer, more life-like longer blades of artificial grass with and without rubber infill over a variety of sub-bases. The installations result in varied surfaces with a range of safety levels (GMAX Test). The new generation of synthetic turf is safer, softer and longer lasting than earlier products and has enabled educational institutions to expand their play hours significantly.
