Lingerie Football League

The concept originated from the Super Bowl halftime alternative television special called the Lingerie Bowl which draws millions of viewers as a pay-per-view event broadcast annually directly opposite the Super Bowl halftime show. The television show has become a staple of Super Bowl Sunday festivities for millions worldwide being broadcast in over 85 countries.

The league's administrative offices are in West Hollywood, California.

Friday Night Football

This Fall, all (10) LFL inaugural season teams will compete in a (20) week season with games being played at major arenas and stadiums. The weekly broadcast will be shot in 1080i high-definition and will be available via cable television as well as online streaming.

Games will include (2) 15 minute halves and a ten minute halftime.

Play style

Play style is full-contact and consists of seven women on each side of the 50-yard field, akin to indoor football. Uniforms consist of helmets, shoulder pads, bikini tops and shorts.

Also, there is no kicking or punting allowed in the game. A team must attempt to get a first down on every fourth down. They cannot go for the one extra point after a touchdown, but instead must decide to go for a one- or two-point conversion by attempting to get the ball in the end-zone from the two or five yard lines, respectively.

Another unique feature of the league is that each team has only 12 players on their active roster, which means that some players must play both sides and therefore get no rest between offense and defense.

In addition to the 50-yard field, the field is 30 yards wide and the end zones are 10 yards deep.

The league announced it would play with ten teams in its 2009-2010 season.[2] They are scheduled to play one game every Friday night from September 4, 2009 to January 29, 2010, for a total of four games for each team over the course of a 20-week season.
